Panic Without A Story
This week, I was working with a client.
He was going through a busy period of physical work outdoors, with the end-of-year rush looming. He was feeling tired and noticed that feelings of panic were returning.
We were already working on adjusting his diet and eating proper lunches, which had eliminated his afternoon slump and made him feel more stable. But now, despite that progress, the panic was there again.
He noticed that there was no story behind the feelings of panic. No trigger, no thought that caused it. So he wondered: what is going on?
Then I asked: but is your body getting enough nutrition?
Especially now. It’s cold. You’re doing physical work. You’re busy. Your vata is increasing, your ojas (your battery) is running low. Restless thoughts, feelings of panic, fatigue – these are logical consequences of an empty system.
Something clicked in him.
We continued to puzzle over what else had happened. And indeed, the missing link: lack of nutrition.
And not just any nutrition. But the grounding, somewhat heavier things:
→ A meat stew (not a raw steak)
→ Warm sweet winter vegetables (sweet potato, beetroot, carrots)
→ Cooked golden milk with spices and dates
His body reacted immediately and began to salivate. That was what was needed.
Here's what's often missed:
Nutrition gives your body the building blocks for maintenance and repair. But not only that – it also brings mental and emotional stability. Or not.
When you feel anxious, it’s easy to immediately think of childhood traumas and everything that has happened to you. The mental story.
But without the right nutrition, there’s nothing you can do mentally. Your body has no stability, no reserves to absorb that unrest.
What you eat, when you eat, and how you eat
has a huge impact on your mental and emotional state.
That’s not pseudoscience, that is simply how your body works. That’s also exactly what we explore in At Home in Your Body. How nutrition, exercise, and rest support your nervous system. How to recognise signals and respond to them so you no longer have to crash.
If that resonates with you, the programme starts on the 15th of January 2026 (more info here).
much love,
