Start feeling better through therapeutic movement

Have you heard of Yoga therapy and are you curious about what it really is? But are you wondering what the difference is between yoga and yoga therapy? Can it really make you feel better and help you reduce or eliminate pain?

Lately I’ve been noticing myself thinking: ‘hmm I’m getting older’. When I felt discomfort in my lower back and SI-joint at the end of last year that lasted several months. Also a few weeks ago when all of a sudden my left ankle, deep in my joint, started to be painful when putting on shoes. Thinking maybe it’s something related to my kidneys, that they’re getting worse.

I noticed myself falling in the old belief that ageing means: I have to learn to live with this discomfort.

And I’ve been so incredibly well trained in knowing that’s not true and also in knowing what to actually do about it. So if this is my train of thoughts, even though I know better, I can only imagine what you might be thinking and feeling.

So I’m here to share with you that there are possibilities to reduce or even get rid of the pain you’re experiencing. The body is so incredibly adaptable!

My lower back hasn’t bothered me for quite some time now. Working on functional movement and feeling into tension patterns I have. And my ankle is also getting better. Making daily micromovements to get my ankle joint movement smoother and better.

What caused these discomforts? 

Probably some compensatory pattern my body adopted for some reason. Or with the lower back lying too much on one side probably didn’t help. There can be so many reasons. But they don’t matter so much. Of course, it’s useful if you know so you can stop doing that thing. If you don’t know however, just simplifying your movement to be able to feel where your body compensates, and let that go, is the key.

So in these therapeutic workshops I’ll share some of these basic movements that might help you with the pain you are experiencing.

Yoga therapy can bring you so much insight into and respect for how the body works. How it compensates to keep you going, even though it may not help in the long run. And how important the nervous system is in working with the body. As long as the body experiences stress it will not be able to really let go of tension.

What will you learn in this workshop?

You will explore your movement and how to move your body without compensation. Exploring the movement of the bones and joints instead of focusing on the muscles. You will feel the importance of breathing and everything from relaxation, letting go of effort and at the same time building strength and flexibility. During the practice there is also a lot of time to integrate what you have learned.
